Most commandments which hinge on the Land promote sustainability – but shouldn’t they be relevant everywhere? Shmita’s wisdom about sustainability is much-needed beyond the Land of Israel: let shmita be a central part of the or chadash, the “new light” that shines from Zion, out to the whole world.
